Does Medicare Pay Funeral Expenses?
Medicare Part A and Part B (Original Medicare) does not cover funeral expenses, although, some Medicare beneficiaries may qualify for some help with funeral expenses through Social Security. To qualify for this benefit, the deceased must have had Medicare in order for this social security benefit to apply. This means that the deceased must have worked and paid social security taxes for 10 years. This would automatically qualify them for Medicare Part A.
